The hairy suede upper of the Converse One Star Academy Ox Shoes was first developed in the 70’s but saw the greatest amount of popularity in the last year. In this case it’s been dressed in black, to maintain a monochromatic colourway, while lateral panels are cut through in egret by the iconic central star. Flanked by matching canvas stripes on the sides and laces above. The interior and glossed midsoles are matched in off-white, with minor detailing at the heel in reference to Chuck Taylor’s influence on the One Star model. Internally an Ortholite sockliner has been added for responsive cushioning in each step.
Converse was founded in the early 1900’s, initially creating rubber soled leather shoes which lead to their rise to popularity. However, their designs continually developed to include sports sneakers as early as 1917 (which marked the release of the All Star). Now a lot of their shoes include athletic inspired influences such as performance insoles in lifestyle orientated silhouettes.
